This role emphasizes practical application over theoretical technology, focusing on understanding existing processes, determining the appropriate division of tasks between AI and human workers, and restructuring workflows accordingly. The AI Adoption Lead will collaborate with various teams within the Airbel department, providing ongoing support in diagnosing workflows, co-designing AI solutions, and building the capacity for teams to adopt these solutions independently. This individual contributor role requires proficiency in AI platforms to create functional tools and automations without traditional coding. The AI Adoption Lead will not only work with one team but will support multiple teams simultaneously, ensuring that AI fluency is raised across the department without creating dependency on a central expert. The role also involves establishing a streamlined intake process for AI initiatives, prioritizing high-value opportunities, and maintaining quality standards for AI outputs.

Capacity Building & Adoption: Provide hands-on coaching and training to staff, fostering comfort and competence with AI tools. Support teams in developing complex prompting workflows using real operational data. Monitor adoption patterns and adjust strategies to ensure sustained uptake of AI practices. Identify and nurture AI superusers within teams to champion AI practices post-engagement.
Workflow Diagnosis & AI Solution Design: Collaborate with pillar teams to analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for AI enhancements. Build and scale reusable AI solutions, such as prompt libraries and workflow templates, for deployment across teams. Prototype solutions quickly, ensuring they are practical and sustainable for handoff.
Quality Assurance & Responsible AI Use: Establish quality standards for AI-generated content, ensuring alignment with Airbel’s mission. Develop review protocols to manage risks associated with AI use, such as bias and data sensitivity. Contribute to responsible AI practices within the organization.
AI Systems, Intake & Scalable Infrastructure: Create repeatable playbooks and templates to facilitate the scaling of AI practices. Implement a lightweight intake process for AI requests, prioritizing impact-driven efforts. Define quality expectations for AI solutions and document lessons learned for self-service adoption.
Organizational Learning & AI Transformation: Share insights and best practices from departmental work to inform IRC’s broader AI Transformation efforts. Stay updated on AI developments and proactively identify new opportunities for the department.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess 4 to 7 years of relevant professional experience in fields such as process improvement, product management, solutions engineering, or research operations, with a recent focus on applying AI tools to workflows. Deep fluency with frontier AI platforms is essential, including the ability to execute complex prompting against operational data and generate functional tools. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of workflow decomposition and the ability to reconstruct processes effectively. Strong facilitation and written communication skills are required, particularly in creating clear documentation and instructional materials. Experience working across cultures and a demonstrated interest in IRC's humanitarian mission are strongly preferred.
Educational Background: While the job description does not specify exact educational requirements, candidates are typically expected to have a degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or a related discipline that supports the skills needed for AI application and workflow management.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 4 to 7 years of professional experience, particularly with a focus on applying AI tools in practical settings. This experience should include hands-on building with current AI platforms and a demonstrated ability to solve problems using AI technologies.
Languages: The job description does not specify mandatory languages, but proficiency in English is likely essential given the organization's international scope and the nature of the work. Additional language skills may be beneficial, especially in regions where the IRC operates.
Additional Notes: The working environment for this position offers flexibility, with options for hybrid or fully in-office arrangements. The compensation for this role ranges from $94,000 to $110,000, depending on various factors such as labor market conditions, job type, internal equity, and the candidate's experience.
