Job Overview: The Information Management (IM) Specialist position at UNICEF Mali is crucial for ensuring that accurate and timely information is collected, stored, and shared to support effective child protection programming. The IM Specialist will work under the supervision of the Chief Child Protection, focusing on data management to inform strategic and programmatic decisions regarding child protection initiatives. The IM Specialist will be responsible for deploying information management systems and ensuring that data is utilized to enhance the effectiveness of child protection programs across various levels of operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Information Management for the Child Protection Section: Oversee the collection, storage, and dissemination of information relevant to child protection initiatives.
Data Collection, Compilation, and Analysis: Implement robust data collection methods to gather information on child protection issues, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Data Visualization: Create visually appealing and informative presentations of data to facilitate understanding and decision-making among stakeholders.
Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building: Foster a culture of innovation within the team, sharing best practices and building capacity among staff to enhance data management capabilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or higher) in fields such as information management, information systems, data science, statistics, or GIS. Additionally, at least 5 years of relevant work experience in information management or related fields is required. Experience in managing data cycles, including collection, storage, and analysis, is essential, along with proficiency in data visualization tools and advanced MS Excel skills.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Masters or higher) in information management, information systems, data science, statistics, GIS, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage complex data sets effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in information management, data science, statistics, GIS, or a related field. This experience should include proven technical expertise in managing the data cycle, from collection to analysis and presentation, particularly in humanitarian or fragile settings.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is required for this position. Knowledge of another UN official working language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the international context of UNICEF's operations.
