Job Overview:
The position is for an Individual Contractor (IC) to join the Roster de diseño at UNDP Argentina. The role involves providing design services for various projects and initiatives within the organization. The contractor will be expected to work on a flexible basis, responding to specific design requests from different areas of UNDP. This may include creating communication materials, internal publications, and products aimed at diverse external audiences such as organizations, governments, and the general public. The contractor must demonstrate adaptability to the varying design needs of the requesting areas and may be required to participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss project requirements. The position is structured to allow for intermittent consultancy periods over a three-year assignment, with an initial one-year contract that can be renewed annually based on satisfactory performance evaluations by UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the contractor include:
  • Collaborating with UNDP teams to understand their design needs and objectives.
  • Creating high-quality design pieces that meet the specifications outlined in the Terms of Reference for each service request.
  • Providing estimates of the units of measure for the requested products.
  • Adapting designs to suit various formats and audiences, ensuring that the materials are effective and engaging.
  • Participating in periodic meetings with different departments to gather feedback and refine design concepts.
  • Submitting proposals and quotations for design services in US dollars (USD) as per the requirements of each project.
  • Responding to any requests for clarification regarding design specifications through the designated messaging functionality in the supplier portal.
  • Maintaining a professional standard of work and adhering to deadlines set by UNDP.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in design, with proven experience in creating various types of visual content. They should have a keen interest in the themes related to UNDP's mission and objectives. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing design requirements. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with different teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with design software and tools is also required, along with a portfolio showcasing previous design work.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in design, graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is required. Candidates should have formal training or a degree that equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform effectively in this role. Continuous professional development in design trends and techniques is also advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in design or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in a development context is a plus. The ability to demonstrate a portfolio of previous work that reflects a range of design projects is essential for consideration.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position is based in Argentina and requires communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, as it may be necessary for collaboration with international teams and for understanding UNDP's global communications. Knowledge of additional languages can be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration is set for three years, with an initial term of one year that is subject to renewal based on performance evaluations. This position is classified as a consultancy role, which allows for flexible working arrangements. The contractor will be expected to submit their proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal, and all quotations must be provided in US dollars.
