Job Overview:
The position of Individual Contractor for Disability Inclusion Projects involves providing administrative, project management, and outreach assistance to ensure the effective implementation of technical cooperation projects in target countries. The contractor will support research, consultation, and drafting related to the development of knowledge products. Additionally, the role includes providing administrative and substantive support for organizing internal and external meetings, as well as assisting in the implementation of a social media campaign related to the Jakarta Declaration. The contractor will also support ESCAP's efforts in implementing and reporting on the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS). This role is crucial in advancing the commitments made by ESCAP member states towards disability inclusion, particularly in light of the Jakarta Declaration adopted in October 2022, which emphasizes the importance of accelerating actions to implement the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Contractor include: (a) providing administrative support for the implementation of technical cooperation projects related to disability inclusion; (b) assisting in research and drafting knowledge products that align with the Jakarta Declaration; (c) organizing and providing support for internal and external meetings, ensuring all logistical and substantive needs are met; (d) coordinating the implementation of a social media campaign on the Jakarta Declaration, working closely with communications teams; (e) supporting the reporting and implementation of the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS); (f) collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, organizations of persons with disabilities, and business associations to promote disability-inclusive employment and business practices; (g) contributing to the development of policies and programs that advance disability inclusion in the Asia-Pacific region; (h) participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance understanding of disability rights and inclusion; (i) maintaining effective communication with all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress towards project goals.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a Master's degree in social studies, international development, or a related field. A strong academic background specifically related to disability rights is considered a significant asset. Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of work experience in disability research and/or projects, with experience within the UN system on disability inclusion matters being a strong advantage. Additionally, experience in providing training on disability inclusion is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate basic project management skills and strong event organization capabilities, along with strong analytical, written, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in social studies, international development, or a related field. An academic background specifically related to disability rights is highly desirable, as it aligns with the mission of promoting disability inclusion and supporting the implementation of the Jakarta Declaration.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant work experience in disability research and/or projects. Experience working within the UN system, particularly on matters related to disability inclusion, is considered a strong asset. Candidates with experience in providing training on disability inclusion will be preferred, as this demonstrates a commitment to advancing knowledge and practices in this area.

Languages:
A strong command of English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any national language in the Asia-Pacific region is considered a strong asset, as it may facilitate communication and engagement with local stakeholders and communities.
