Job Overview:
The WASH Intern position at UNICEF is designed for qualified students and recent graduates to gain practical experience while contributing to significant national and international processes. The intern will work under the guidance of the WASH Officer, supporting the implementation of WASH construction projects. This includes tasks such as construction design, site inspections, on-site construction monitoring, and facilitating handover to local governments. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the implementation of WASH facilities and services.
  • Updating progress reports on water and sanitation facilities and analyzing factors such as innovation, cost-effectiveness, and climate resilience.
  • Collecting data and narrative reports from districts, as well as designing templates for compliance.
  • Visiting WASH construction sites in collaboration with local governments and following up on project implementation.
  • Ensuring that designs meet UNICEF's branding and requirements, including accessibility for people with disabilities.
  • Monitoring construction sites with local governments to estimate the population using the facilities according to specifications.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably in their junior or senior year, in relevant disciplines such as Construction Engineering, Sanitation Engineering, or fields related to WASH designs and constructions. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and demonstrate excellent academic performance through recent university records. While relevant experience is desirable, it is not mandatory. Proficiency in English is required, along with skills in AutoCAD, Geo-referencing, Microsoft Planner, MS Excel, and other relevant technologies. Additionally, candidates must not have immediate relatives working in UNICEF or UN agencies, ensuring impartiality in the internship process.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as Construction Engineering, Sanitation Engineering, or a related discipline that focuses on water, sanitation, and hygiene.
