Job Overview:
The position of Project Coordinator for the International Programme on Holocaust and Genocide Education (IPHGE) involves leading the coordination and oversight of the IPHGE in Cambodia. This role is critical in supporting the broader implementation of Communication and Information (CI) Programme activities. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, international partners, and UNESCO headquarters, to ensure effective implementation of the programme. The coordinator will be responsible for monitoring project progress, validating deliverables, and ensuring compliance with UNESCO standards and donor requirements. The role also includes providing technical inputs related to genocide education and Global Citizenship Education (GCED), facilitating communication among consultants and national counterparts, and contributing to the design and implementation of CI Programme activities. The position requires a proactive approach to enhance the integration of genocide education into the national curriculum and promote critical thinking and historical understanding among students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include serving as the focal point for the IPHGE, supervising national consultants, coordinating with relevant ministries and stakeholders, monitoring project progress, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting. The coordinator will support programme management processes, including procurement and contract management, and provide quality assurance to outputs related to genocide education and GCED. Additionally, the incumbent will facilitate communication between consultants and national counterparts, contribute to donor reporting, and support outreach efforts, including the preparation of visibility materials. The role also involves organizing meetings and workshops, engaging with stakeholders, and carrying out other tasks as required by the UNESCO Representative and project team.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a Master’s Degree in Media, Communications, Human Rights, Social Sciences, Education, Public Policy, or other relevant fields. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in programme or project coordination, preferably within an international organization or the UN system. Demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives and engagement with government counterparts and civil society organizations is essential. Candidates should also have experience in human rights, peace education, and an understanding of issues related to historical memory and reconciliation. Strong analytical and writing skills are required, along with fluency in English and Khmer, both written and spoken.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree from a recognized university in a relevant field such as Media, Communications, Human Rights, Social Sciences, Education, or Public Policy. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of genocide education and the broader themes of human rights and social justice that the position addresses.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in programme or project coordination. This experience should ideally be within an international organization or the UN system, with a focus on coordinating initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders, including government entities and civil society organizations.
