Job Overview: The position of Individual Consultant to Assist in the Implementation of the Samsung SFT (Solve for Tomorrow) Project is designed for a national consultant who will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of this initiative. The Samsung SFT project aims to foster innovation and creativity among young people in Samoa, encouraging them to develop solutions to local challenges. The consultant will be expected to provide expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that objectives are met effectively and efficiently. This role requires a deep understanding of the local context, as well as the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, educational institutions, and the private sector. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and Samsung representatives to align project activities with broader development goals and ensure that the project contributes positively to the community.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to:
Collaborating with UNDP and Samsung teams to develop a detailed implementation plan for the SFT project.
Conducting workshops and training sessions for participants to enhance their skills in innovation and problem-solving.
Monitoring and evaluating project progress, ensuring that milestones are achieved within the specified timeframe.
Engaging with local stakeholders to promote the project and encourage participation.
Providing regular updates and reports to UNDP on project status, challenges, and successes.
Assisting in the preparation of project documentation and materials for dissemination.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP procurement and operational guidelines throughout the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in project management, particularly in the context of youth engagement and innovation. A proven track record of working with international organizations, especially in development projects, is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with the local context in Samoa and experience in engaging with government and community stakeholders will be highly advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also required to navigate the complexities of project implementation.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, project management, education, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree would be an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile. Relevant certifications in project management or youth development programs would also be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in project management, particularly in roles that involve youth engagement, innovation, or community development. The consultant should also have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
