Job Overview: The Consultant / Survey Team Leader will play a pivotal role in supporting a scoping review of evidence regarding how public policies and private initiatives influence carbon stocks in agricultural and livestock production systems. This position will focus on both tropical and temperate agricultural contexts, with a particular emphasis on temperate agriculture in Argentina and Uruguay. The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing a systematic search strategy to identify and select relevant studies, extracting and synthesizing evidence on interventions, mechanisms of action, and the enabling conditions and barriers that affect their effectiveness. The role also involves producing an evidence synthesis document that summarizes the current state of knowledge and identifies gaps in the literature regarding carbon stocks in temperate agricultural systems, contributing significantly to the objectives of the Avanzar2030 initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a systematic search strategy to identify studies examining the effects of public policies and private initiatives on carbon stocks in agricultural and livestock systems, focusing on temperate agriculture.
Extract and synthesize evidence on the types of interventions, mechanisms of action, and enabling conditions and barriers that shape their effectiveness.
Analyze the associated environmental, social, and economic outcomes reported in the literature.
Produce a comprehensive evidence synthesis document for decision-makers that summarizes the state of knowledge and identifies remaining gaps in the literature on carbon stocks in temperate agricultural systems.
Collaborate with partners from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay to ensure the relevance and applicability of findings.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work outputs.
Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks as needed.
Travel as required to engage with stakeholders and gather additional insights.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in agricultural economics, international development, or a related discipline.
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in the field.
Excellent drafting skills and a strong analytical mindset.
Proficiency in econometric skills for cross-section and panel data analysis.
Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth statistical analysis and report results effectively.
Experience in conducting literature reviews of academic publications and research reports.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
