Job Overview: The Governance Officer position at UNOPS involves providing coordination and administrative support to the RBM (Roll Back Malaria) partnership governance mechanisms. This includes managing Partner Committees and Working Groups, ensuring effective follow-up on agreed workplans, and facilitating communication among stakeholders. The role requires the incumbent to organize and service meetings, compile meeting materials, prepare summaries, maintain action trackers, and manage membership lists. The Governance Officer will also engage with partners and constituents, update website content, monitor partnership applications, and support logistics for in-person meetings and workshops. The position emphasizes knowledge management and continuous improvement within the governance framework, making it essential for the incumbent to actively participate in these initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Governance Officer include:
Supporting the organization and servicing of meetings for RBM governance mechanisms, including Partner Committees and Working Groups, by coordinating invitations, agendas, and documentation circulation.
Compiling meeting materials and presentations from various teams and preparing meeting summaries while maintaining action trackers.
Maintaining membership lists, contact databases, and mailing groups to ensure effective communication.
Assisting in the preparation of routine progress updates and reporting inputs related to governance mechanisms.
Providing surge/back-up support during Board and committee cycles.
Maintaining shared communication channels and functional mailboxes for governance mechanisms.
Updating website content related to partnership membership and committee activities.
Monitoring applications to join the Partnership submitted via the website.
Supporting logistics for in-person meetings, workshops, and consultations in collaboration with the Finance and Operations Unit. 1
Providing administrative and coordination support for governance-related consultations and partnership engagement processes. 1
Maintaining organized electronic records and document repositories. 1
Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives within the governance framework. 1
Performing any other duties/tasks as assigned by the Governance Officer.

Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, which means that the selected candidate will be responsible for arranging their own housing and other living essentials. The UN Volunteer will be part of the malicious insurance plan, and full entitlements can be checked at the duty station. The living conditions in Addis Ababa are generally favorable, with reasonable housing costs and a large expatriate community. The climate is temperate, but it can be cold at night, so candidates should prepare accordingly.
