Job Overview: The National Consultant will be responsible for updating a Protocol manual and conducting training for Protocol Officers and Senior Government Officials in Lesotho. This role is crucial as it aims to enhance the understanding and implementation of protocol standards within governmental operations. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and local government entities to ensure that the updated manual reflects current practices and meets the needs of the officials involved. The assignment is expected to last for a total of 25 days, during which the consultant will engage in both research and practical training sessions, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to apply the updated protocols effectively in their roles.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include:
Reviewing the existing Protocol manual to identify areas that require updates or revisions.
Conducting thorough research on best practices in protocol management and incorporating these findings into the updated manual.
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather input and feedback on the manual's content.
Developing training materials that align with the updated Protocol manual.
Facilitating training sessions for Protocol Officers and Senior Government Officials, ensuring that the training is interactive and informative.
Evaluating the effectiveness of the training sessions and making necessary adjustments to improve future training.
Providing ongoing support and guidance to participants as they implement the updated protocols in their work.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in protocol management, public administration, or a related field. They should have demonstrated experience in developing training programs and materials, as well as a proven ability to engage with high-level government officials. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and standards will be considered an asset.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Public Administration, International Relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline will be preferred. Additional certifications in protocol management or training facilitation will be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in protocol management, training, or a related area. Experience working with government entities or international organizations is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully conducting training sessions and developing training materials is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all training materials and sessions will be conducted in English. Knowledge of Sesotho or other local languages will be considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with participants.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 25 days. The consultant will be expected to work full-time during this period. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
